Baked Apples with Honey

These are an excellent warm your tummy fall dessert.

Stuffed Baked Apples with Honey Ingredients:

  • 4 large apples I used Honeycrisp you can use whatever kind you like
  • 1/4 cup Meadowlily Farm raw all natural non pasteurized honey
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans – optional
  • 1/4 cup dried cranberries or chopped raisins (or both if you like)
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 cup boiling water

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F / 190°C.
  2. Rinse and dry the apples. Use an apple corer or sharp paring knife to cut out the apple cores. Remember to leave about 1/2 inch of the bottom of the apples intact.
  3. Put honey, cinnamon, dried cranberries and or chopped raisins, and chopped pecans (if you are using them) in a small bowl and stir to combine.
  4. Put the apples in a baking dish and stuff each apple with the honey stuffing mixture. Place a dot of butter on top of each stuffed apple. 
  5. Pour the boiling water into the bottom of the baking dish. Bake for 40 to 50 minutes until the apples are cooked through. You can take them out part way through and baste them with the juice in the pan. This helps them stay really moist and helps them brown.

These are delicious served with some whipped cream on or ice cream. A sprinkle of cinnamon is nice as well.
